The Photograph Stars Issa Rae & Lakeith Stanfield Share VDay Expectations

Stars of "The Photograph" Issa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield stopped by The Angie Martinez show today to talk about their new film, Kobe Bryant's legacy, The Oscars lack of diversity + more!

Issa and Lakieth both describe "The Photograph" as the perfect movie to go see with anyone this weekend, and really want people to take something from in when they leave the theater.

“I hope people obviously enjoy it and take something from it, it feels like a music piece, but like when certain songs take you back to a moment in time, hopefully it evokes feelings from people” - ISSA

While Issa Rae was there for the announcement of all the Oscar nominees she did not attend the actual show itself. One of the biggest controversies this year was that there were no female directors nominated for any awards. Speaking on the lack of diversity Issa had this to say:

"Was I surprised, yes and know, we hear about it every year and say we need to make change but it never changes”

Lakeith Stanfield also touched upon the back and forth he had with The Breakfast Club a few months ago, specifically Charlamagne. Citing that there is no beef or hard feelings and everything is good, "I just said what I said, and people feel different ways, but there are no problems".
